¡Alegría! Palma Sagrada

In a rare yet exciting collaboration, world acclaimed Puerto Rican artist Rafael Trelles, will produce a limited-edition print of his original painting Palma Sagrada to mark the launching of the new cultural platform, Alegría –inspired by the cultural richness of his native Puerto Rico.   A limited number of Palma Sagrada’s print pieces will be available during while they last, each will be numbered and personally signed by the Artist. Palma Sagrada is featured in Trelles’ most recent solo exhibit of new works entitled Axis Mundi, currently on display at the prestigious October Gallery in London, England.   Axis Mundi is a collection of exquisitely hand-painted works inspired by the majestic and somewhat mysterious notion of the ‘world tree’ or palma real, common to many ancient cultures in Africa, the Americas and Europe. Trelles paintings reveal the enchanting nature of the forests of his native Puerto Rico.  Moreover, reveres these forests as sites of refuge and transcultural in nature increasingly challenged by climate change and the extinction of endemic species.

En una colaboración única y emocionante, el mundialmente aclamado artista puertorriqueño, Rafael Trelles, producirá una edición impresa limitada de su pintura original Palma Sagrada, esto para marcar el lanzamiento de la nueva plataforma cultural Alegría –inspirada en la riqueza cultural de su natal Puerto Rico. La cantidad limitada de las piezas impresas de Palma Sagrada estarán disponibles mientras duren, cada una enumerada y firmada personalmente por el Artista. Palma Sagrada es parte de la exposición individual más reciente de Trelles con nuevos trabajos titulada Axis Mundi, actualmente en exhibición en la prestigiosa Galería Octubre en Londres, Inglaterra. Axis Mundi es una colección de obras exquisitamente pintadas a mano, inspiradas en la noción majestuosa y un tanto misteriosa del “árbol del mundo” o palma real, común a muchas culturas antiguas de África, América y Europa. Las pinturas de Trelles revelan la naturaleza encantadora de los bosques de su natal Puerto Rico. Además, venera estos bosques como espacios de refugio y naturaleza transcultural cada vez más desafiados por el cambio climático y la extinción de especies endémicas.
